Bungendore is an historic village with many restored old
buildings. It offers choice of galleries, antique shops, gift shops,
eateries and accommodation. The longest established gallery is the
Wood Works Gallery, opened in 1983, having been recognised with
seven ACT Tourism Awards and two National Tourism Awards. There is
also the Lindsay Hill Gallery.
You can take a tour to several of the
wineries including Lark Hill Winery, MiliMANi Winery, Gidgee Wine
Estate, and Lindsay Hill Gallery to name just a few.
If you are
interested in history, there is the Bywong Gold Mining Town that is
an authentically recreated 1890 mining village. Open daily from 9:30
am to 4:30 pm, bookings are essential. Just five km from Bungendore
is Brooks Hill Reserve, a 71 hectares area where you can do some
bush walking, and bird watching. |
