Weasel Skink
(Saproscincus mustelinus)

The Weasel Skink is a small (up to 15 cm nose to tail) ground-dwelling skink that lives in a coastal strip from Brisbane to Melbourne, and in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.

This lizard is often found in people's gardens, usually under stones and leaf litter. It eats small insects, such as flies and mosquitoes, therefore is useful to have around.

Care should be taken when handling the reptile, as they if frightened, they will drop its tail, a defence mechanism. It will take some time for the tail to regrow.
