Anemone Stinkhorn • Aseroë rubra
Anemone Stinkhorn (Aseroë rubra)

This unique and bizarre looking fungi is commonly called the ‘anemone stinkhorn’ or ‘sea anemone fungus’.

It gets is common name from its shape and is recognisable for the foul odour, imitating carrion, enabling it to propagate its spores via flies.

It is often found growing in gardens, on mulch and grassy areas.
