The Tasmanian Waratah, as the name suggests is found growing in the wild in
Tasmania. Occurs at altitudes of 600-1,200 m, in moist acid soils, in
subalpine shrublands and wet sclerophyll forests of Tasmania.
Flowers are usually red, although there are cream and pink forms.
There is also a rare yellow form.
Examples can be found growing in the Royal
Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and also Mount Tomah Botanic Garden, New South Wales. |
