Australia has a magnificent range of golf courses available all around the
country, as well as a number of unique courses, such as the Alice Springs Golf
Course, described as the hottest golf course on earth with hot winds whistling
across the fairways and temperatures soaring to 50ºC (122ºF), or a round of
night time golf in the extreme of Coober Pedy, where the fairway is oiled to
stop the sand blowing away. A current project is the world’s longest golf
course, ‘The Nullarbor Links’, an 18 hole par 72 golf course that will span
1,365 km stretching from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to Ceduna in South
Australia.
In addition, there are many supporting organisations who can assist you with
finding the right courses for you. Just check out some of the listings and

New South Wales Golf
Club
• Henry Head, Botany Bay National Park, LA PEROUSE / SYDNEY NSW • Ph: +61 2 9661
4455 •

• Surrounded by National Park, NSW Golf Club is located at Cape Banks on the
northern headland of Botany Bay approximately 20 minutes from the Sydney CBD.
The NSW Golf Course is rated in the top 50 golf courses in the world. In fact,
it is the only Sydney course rated in the top 100 best golf courses listing. The
character of the course is unique, a links style course set amongst the hills
and valleys that hug the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline boasting magnificent
ocean views as backdrop. Few layouts can offer such a diverse range of
challenges over the course of a single round; even fewer can change so
dramatically according to the vagaries of the weather.

Alice Springs Golf Club Inc
• Cromwell Drv, ALICE SPRINGS NT 0870 • Ph: 08 8952 1921 •

• The sporting showpiece of the
unofficial capital of Central Australia is the stunning Alice Springs Golf Club
which boasts one of the world's finest desert venues set in the foothills of the
majestic MacDonnell Ranges. With several quality hotels backing onto the course,
why not stay a couple of days and enjoy the magnificent scenery.
The Alice Springs course has earned rave reviews from golfers world-wide as a
course of unique charm blended with some subtle severity. Accuracy is a must and
even the boldest hitters must harness their power and replace it with discretion
to ensure a safe landing, rather than challenge the menacing rocky outcrops
which lurk at the edges of several of the fairways.

Coober Pedy Opal Fields Golf Club
• Ph: 08 8672 5555
• Voted in the top 10 of the ‘extreme
golf courses’ in the world (as seen on
Forbes Traveler), and is the only golf club in the world with
reciprocal rights to the famous home of golf, St. Andrews in Scotland. No visit
to Coober Pedy would be complete without seeing the local Golf Course, where the
fairways are made of sand which are oiled to stop the sand being blown away, because
there is not a blade of grass to be seen. Started in 1975 with only 9 holes, the
course expanded to 18 holes in 1996. As daytime temperature can get
exceedingly hot, golf is mostly played at night with glowing balls, and golfers
take with them a small piece of ‘turf’ to use for teeing off.
