Visitors staying at ‘The Retreat’ will have full use of the 125 acre property. Prince of Orange Wines • The Escort Way (Forbes Rd), Borenore via ORANGE NSW 2800 • Ph: 02 6365 2396 • • Established in 1995 on an undeveloped block on the foot hills of the extinct Mt Canobolas. The rich weathered volcanic and basalt soils, together with the altitude, allows a long ripening period to enhance the tropical flavours of the Sauvignon Blanc and the fresh berries and soft tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon. Located in Orange this vibrant and distinctive cool climate wine district is about 3.5 hours west of Sydney, and has many vineyards planted above 600m in altitude. A scenic three and a half hour drive from Sydney, we are situated on the eastern outskirts of Orange, on the Sydney Road, which ensures peace and tranquillity, yet only a few minutes drive from the central business district. The Vineyard has a great deal to offer with a five star A la Carte Restaurant and The Vineyard Café each offering open-air terraces with uninterrupted views across the breath-taking vineyard. Our Wine Tasting and Museum Complex opens weekends and by appointment, however, we do offer Wine tasting and Cellar Door sales 7 days a week.

The two vineyards share a common boundary, soil types, climate and rainfall.

The Riverina is a must visit for those interested in wines with a diverse range of quality wines coming from this region, and with Griffith and Leeton being the main production centres. You have more then a dozen wineries to choose from a diverse range of wines including Shiraz, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Tempranillo, Durif or Tyrian.

The first planting was “ten acres” of Shiraz. The first bottle of Murrin Bridge Shiraz was donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and auctioned at Moomba in the South Australian Gas Fields, fetching $360. Murrin Bridge is so named because it is where there is a “bridge” over the Lachlan River upstream of the “Murrin Bend”.

A delicious homestyle lunch is available in the ‘Bails’ Restaurant, set within the historic 1860’s Milking Bails. And, of course, a guided tasting of wines. Cellar door open every day. Only 5 minutes from Bega, 25 minutes from Merimbula and Tathra.
