Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia and handily close to the beaches of the Costa Brava, boasts fantastic architecture as well as a well-respected culinary culture. The nation’s capital, Madrid, is a brilliantly cosmopolitan city with a fascinating old town including such breathtaking sights as Plaza Mayor, the main square.
