This year continues the mayhem and hardship for many Australians with the natural disasters across the nation. With three quarters of the state of Queensland declared a disaster zone, flooding across the northern inland NSW and Victoria, many people are struggling.

Unfortunately, as well as the best in people, disasters can also bring out the worst, and we are all advised to watch out for bogus charities claiming to be collecting on behalf of the flood victims, as well as scam telephone calls and spam emails. Never pay out money in advance, or give banking details and watch out for fraudsters and thieves, seeking donations or being where they shouldn't be. Care should also be taken when visiting websites, as there can also be faked sites that look similar to the legitimate sites.
