Harvest Period and Work - Victoria

With it's fertile soils and access to water for irrigation, Victoria is a great food source for the nation. The Murray River forms the northern border with New South Wales, and provides water for an agricultural industry that includes fruit, vegetables and stock. In recent times the expansion and planting of the vineyards have provided work opportunities. The rangelands and slopes allow cool climate cropping, whilst the vast plains of the west provide most of Victoria's wool and grain production.
