Travel Tips - Visa and Working Holidays
|
Some tips for those considering travelling and working overseas:
- Find out all you can about your destination. For those
travelling to Australia, AusEmade have provided and continue
to expand it's current content, as well as links to other
great informative sites out there.
- Ensure you have all the correct documents including visas
and work permits. Those intending to drive will find an
international drivers licence may also be an advantage.
- If required, ensure that you have the necessary
vaccinations. Remember, some vaccinations take time to become
fully effective.
- For those on medication, ensure you have enough to cover
your holidays, a copy of your prescription and a repeat. You
may need to confirm that taking the medication across borders
is legal.
- If you intend working whilst on holiday, check what period
the seasonal work occurs in the countries of your destination.
- Ensure you have enough money to keep you going until you
find work. Some countries require that you to have a certain
amount of money before they allow you to come on a working
holiday.
- It is advisable to travel with insurance.
- Australian travellers can visit both the
Australian
Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous
Affairs and the
DFAT
websites for further information, as well as the equivalent in
the destination country. You can also get information from
embassy representatives. The same apply for travellers from
other countries.
- When travelling to another country, check out
smartraveller.gov.au,
the DFAT travel advisories section containing general advice, country-specific
travel advice and advise against travelling to specific countries.
