STAR ratings for an accommodation are used by many
travellers, as they are an indication of the facilities,
services and cost of staying at that establishment. Such
rating schemes for various kinds of accommodation are in
place in many inbound markets such as the UK, Europe, USA
and NZ. The AAA Tourism STARSTM rating is an accommodation
classification schemes promoted, maintained and owned by AAA
Tourism. No one except AAA Tourism, on behalf of Australia's Auto Clubs, is
permitted to certify a STAR Rating to temporary accommodation properties (as
specified in the registration) in Australia. This independent assessment and rating covers a
range of tourist accommodation properties in Australia.
Properties are awarded a rating between one and five stars
based primarily on facilities, amenities, maintenance and
cleanliness. Properties are assessed on a regular basis
(approximately every 14 - 15 months). The rating definition
of STARSTM vary depending on the accommodation
