Coleambally, south of the Murrumbidgee River, together with Darlington Point are part of the Murrumbidgee Shire Council. Located 645 km south-west of Sydney via the Hume and Sturt Highways, with beautiful gardens and streets named after local birds, the town was officially opened in 1968 to serve as the administrative, commercial and social centre of the Coleambally Irrigation Area.
