Montaray Cottage is situated 25 minutes south east of Tamworth in the beautiful Loomberah Valley. Accommodation consists of 2 double bedrooms and 1 single, and is fully self-contained and air-conditioned for your comfort. The cottage is set high with great views and very private, being 200m from the Homestead.

Relax with a coffee on the verandah and look out over rolling hills, wooded valleys and grazing cattle, or put your feet up with a book in front of a cosy fire.

Great breakfasts are included in the tariff, while lunches, candlelit dinners or picnic hampers are available on request and are delivered to the Cottage.

The property covers approximately 1,400 acres and operates as a commercial Angus cattle enterprise. Join us on a guided farm tour, take a bush walk over the beautiful hills or relax with a picnic by Spring Creek before winding down in your private and comfortable surroundings... these are just some of the ways to enjoy your stay in the country.

Breakfast includes a variety of cereals, stewed fruit & yoghurt, juice, jams and toast and a platter of croissants filled with shaved ham & cheese; bacon, eggs & tomatoes topped with shaved parmesan; or scrambled eggs, smoked salmon & brie filled mushroom cups. As well as a variety of herbal and regular teas and plunger coffee.

The Country Music Capital of Australia, Tamworth is the second largest inland city of New South Wales. Sights to visit include the Golden Guitar Museum, the Art Gallery, and its many beautiful parks. Tamworth also has many historic churches and homes.

Tamworth Country Music Festival
Tamworth hosts this huge musical event annually in January, with thousands of visitors from all over Australia and overseas converging on the area to enjoy the best of Australian Country Music and Golden Guitar Awards Ceremony.

Nundle
An historic goldmining township 40 minutes from Montaray Cottage. See the wool mill, the annual great dog race, or browse through the antique stores. A la carte or casual lunches are available at the Cha! Cha! Cha! restaurant at the Jenkins Street Guesthouse or the Peel Inn Hotel.

Manilla
Enjoy a leisurely drive to the quaint farming community of Manilla and both Split Rock and Keepit dams with their various water activities.

Armidale
Known widely as the city of churches, Armidale is a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year. Renowned for its autumn display, the university town plays host to many festivals and markets.

Tangaratta Vineyard
A relative new comer to the wine industry, its first vines being planted in 1998. The vineyard is situated in the Peel Valley, drawing its name from the Tangaratta Creek, a tributary of the Peel River.

Koolkuna Berries Store and Cafe, Niangala
Koolkuna has been growing a range of berries including raspberries, blueberries, boysenberries, black and red currants, gooseberries, loganberries, and even jostaberries successfully for over 20 years.

Located 9.2 kms west of Bendemeer, Farm Cottage B&B is private and cosy, nestled in a quiet valley on our cattle breeding property. Take a walk up to the ridge and feel you are on top of the world with a magic view down the valley. There is abundant wildlife to see and lovely picnic spots along the creek.

Delicious dinners are available, but do require notice.

See the Milky Way and magnificent stars in the clear night sky.

Breakfast consists of juice, fresh/stewed fruit, cereal, free range local eggs, homemade bread and jams, variety of teas or plunger coffee.

Or a breakfast basket can be brought to your cottage to have at your leisure.

Horses are also welcome.

For your romantic getaway - peace and quiet, privacy and a later check out. Candlelit dinners are available for that perfect evening.

There are many picturesque places on our property that would suit the artist or photographer.

Farmland experiences include hopping on the back of the truck when we are feeding hay to the cattle. We are happy to give you a guided tour of our special piece of paradise - just ask. Bendemeer is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway. 40 minutes north of Tamworth and 60 minutes south of Armidale. 3.5 hours inland from Port Macquarie. Fresh country air at its best!

Watch the platypus at sunset under the old Bendemeer Bridge. Try trout fishing in the McDonald River. Browse through the Bendemeer Craft Shop which also sells homemade jams, cakes and other goodies. Enjoy a coffee on the banks of the McDonald River. The Pioneer General Store can supply all your grocery requirements. There is also petrol and an ATM at Bendemeer Tourist Park and hearty homestyle meals are available at the Bendemeer Hotel. Bendemeer hosts a rodeo and art show each year. New England is now a recognised wine producing area and has around 14 wineries.

Just up the highway is a lavender farm and cellar door and at Niangala there is a berry farm and trout farm.

Also in the area are antique shops, old book stores, art galleries and cafes.
Gorges, waterfalls, and wonderful bush picnic areas are within an hour's drive.
