Once part of the busy Hume Highway and now by-passed, Gunning has returned to being a sleepy township. Located just two hours south of Sydney, Gunning is the centre of what is referred to as the ‘The Shire of Small Villages’, first settled in the 1820s. It offers visitors a heritage experience and friendly rural atmosphere in what was once an old transport and wool growing centre.
