The popular Jervis Bay region and inlet is located about 170 km from Sydney, with the Booderee National Park to the south, and includes popular destinations of Currarong, Callala Beach, Callala Bay, Myola, Vincentia and Hyams Beach. The Bay itself is about 15 km long and 10 km wide, with a natural harbour sheltered by headlands of forest and heathland which jut out leaving the relatively narrow entrance, and with a depth of some 27 metres it is thought to be the deepest sheltered harbour in Australia.
