Facing east onto Dolphin Bay, just over 37 km north of Sydney CBD and just under 1 km south of Palm Beach, Whale Beach stretches about 600 m long and surrounded by two 40 m high sandstone headlands, backed by slopes rising to 100 m. At the northern end, off the rocks is the surf break called ‘the Wedge’.
