Only one and a half hours south-west of Sydney on the freeway,
and about the same distance from Canberra, the Southern Highlands
lies atop the Great Dividing Range, 700 metres and more above sea
level. The Highlands consist of part of the Wingecarribee
Shire with over 20 villages clustered around the major towns of
Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale.
Some of the
towns and villages include Avoca, Berrima,
Bong Bong, Bowral, Braemar, Bundanoon, Burradoo, Burrawang,
Canyonleigh, Colo Vale, Exeter,
Fitzroy Falls, Joadja, Kangaloon, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Penrose, Robertson,
Sutton, Forest, and Wingello, and Wollondilly.
