With its nineteenth century streetscape and restored historic buildings, the township of Bangalow still retains the feel of a rural country village.

Bangalow offers a delightful stopover with its heritage shopfronts, cafes and restaurants, craft shops and galleries. Located just over 12 km from the heart of Byron Bay and 32 km from Lismore, it makes for a popular holiday and day-tripper destination.

Bangalow has a number of popular events including the Billy Cart Derby, that first started when the highway by-pass re-routed the traffic away from the town.

Bangalow Heritage Museum

• Houses an extensive collection of local memorabilia, providing an insight into the regions history, including the early cedar cutters and farmers who settled in the area. The museum conducts a regular program of feature displays.

Pegasus Park - Equestrian Centre

• Nestled in the hills of Bangalow, just 15 minutes west of Byron Bay, is Pegasus Park, catering for all standards of riders – beginners, nervous adults and children are our specialty. We offer lessons in horse riding, basic dressage and jumping; all under the supervision of our expert E.F.A. Grade 1 instructors.

Take a scenic TRAIL RIDE through Byron’s lush hinterland, or feel the sea breeze on your face with a BEACH RIDE along isolated 7 Mile beach - Lennox Head (south of Byron).

Bangalow Billy Cart Derby • BANGALOW NSW 2479 • Ph: 02 6687 2580 • (online form) • Held in May • When the major highway was re-route away from going through Bangalow, the locals were so delighted that they established the Billy Cart Derby, which runs through the main street (the ex-Pacific Highway). The course commences at the top of the hill, running downhill towards the river, with strategically placed hay bales for safety. This popular and successful annual event raises money for local causes.
Bangalow Market • BANGALOW NSW 2479 • Ph: 02 6687 1911 • • Held on the 4th Sunday of every month - 9 am to 3 pm • Meet artists, artisans, bakers, victuallers, therapists, farmers and friends in a day at the markets, surrounded by the welcoming shade of the huge camphor laurel trees. A percentage of the market profit each month is distributed to Bangalow Community Groups on a rotating basis.
Bangalow Show • Traditionally held in the middle weekend of November • Ph: 02 6687 1033 • (online form) • Running for over 100 years, the Bangalow Show showcases Bangalow's rich agricultural, produce and craft heritage. Packed with plenty of entertainment for the entire family.
