The Pilliga State Forest
is full of Ironbark and White Cypress and provide a haven for an
amazing variety of fauna and birdlife, 240 bird species have been
recorded in this area. The wildflowers in spring and summer rival
those of the western state. The Aloes is the place to visit to see
koalas in their native habitat. Pick up the drive map from the
Coonabarabran Visitors Centre
to experience one of the several drives around the area, and while
you are at it pick up the 'Bird Routes of Baradine & the Pilliga' brochure to
do a spot of bird watching.
