Katoomba - Cities, Towns and Localities
What more can be said about Katoomba, the historic township where the world famous Three Sisters are resident. From early September (spring time), Katoomba and the Blue Mountains is an amazing experience with its blaze of colours and spectacular scenery that attract visitors and photographers from around the world.

Located in the Blue Mountains, two hours west of Sydney City, Katoomba is an ideal place from which to visit the surrounding regions, that include great bushwalking areas (World Heritage Area) cascading waterfalls, breath-taking panoramas, rainforests, fern and mist filled valleys and a huge abundance and variety of flora and fauna.

The region is filled with a high density of oil bearing Eucalypt trees, so many in fact that millions of tiny droplets of eucalypt oil float in the atmosphere refracting the short wave light to produce a blue haze thus the naming of the region Blue Mountains.
