It has some significant local history which includes the unique General Store that was first opened in 1890 and is still operating, offering local produce and some of the best prices on bananas and liquor you can find. A Chinese market garden existed and in the 1950s, the area was farmed by many Italian families.  The Community Hall was the first Macedonian Church in Australia and today is the social focus for the locals, with visitors welcomed.
 

The valley region is an oasis for the local native flora and fauna, with significant areas of rainforest. Wildlife seen in the area include kingfishers, echidnas, platypus and the rare Little Bentwing Bat.

Crabbes Creek is close to other popular towns and destinations including Burringbar, Mooball, Byron Bay, Murwillumbah, Mullumbimby, Pottsville, Brunswick Heads and Bangalow.
