Located in the Southern Tablelands, in the Upper Lachland Shire, Crookwell is
situated at the confluence of the Crookwell River and Kiamma Creek. The
nearest major centre to Crookwell is Goulburn,
about 44 km to the south. Crookwell is also home to New South Wales first grid-connected wind farm,
opened in 1998 and at the time capable of supplying electricity to 3,500 homes.
The town was also home to the first branch of the Country Women's Association
(CWA), formed here in 1922.
