First
settled in the 1840s when a store was opened on the banks of the Maquarie River by Jean Emile de Bouillon Serisier it became a stopping
point for settlers heading out in search of better land and for
cattle mobs being herded south to the Victorian markets of the day. There are many attractions to view including Dubbo Museum, the Old Dubbo Gaol Museum, Dubbo Regional Gallery, Dundullimal,
Dubbo Observatory and Dubbo Military Museum. Cottage and homestead accommodation
is available.
One of Dubbos main attraction is the Western Plains
Zoo which presents many exotic and native animals in large open
exhibits, landscaped to recreate their natural habitat.
You can also visit the Dubbo City Tourist Park with a number of
tourist attractions in the one place, including the Dubbo Military
Museum, Jurassic Maze, Science Expo and Observatory.
