Want to see what is happening where you are going? Maybe you want to include a destination in your plans, some stopover to coincide with events happening in that town?

Following are some events happening in New South Wales. For more information, check the destination pages of the town or area you are visiting.

Some events happen at the same time throughout Australia, such as Christmas and New Years Eve celebrations, ANZAC Day, Australia Day, local markets, agricultural shows etc. Some scheduled events only have approximate dates, with some dates changing or being cancelled.

Australia Wide Events - New South Wales

Location Event

  Australia Day
• 26th January
A day when we come together to celebrate Australia and being Australian. Celebrations are nation wide.

Details can be found on the government Australia Day site. Australia Day celebration information can also be found on the local councils and shire websites.

  ANZAC Day
• 25th April
This day of remembrance marks the deaths and sufferings of brave men and women, who lost their lives in the fight to bring peace and harmony to the world.

It commemorates the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 (during World War I), which saw men from two countries, Australia and New Zealand, come together and fight as one, the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

The massive loss of life, was deeply felt, and today it is a day we mark as
ANZAC Day: Less We Forget.

  Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve
• 24-31 December
Capital cities throughout Australia and many of the major cities often put on special events such as Carol by Candlelight and New Years Eve firework display. Details can often be found on the local council sites.

Braidwood Braidwood Markets
• 4th Saturday of each Month
Monthly market day selling local crafts etc with lots of treasures to be found.

Byron Bay Byron Bay Markets
• Held on the 1st Sunday of each month.
With over 300 stalls, this great market offers a huge array of arts and craft, locally grown produce, food stalls and live entertainment. There is something for the whole family.

Camden Camden Art and Craft Markets
• 3rd Saturday of each month
A great place to check out the local arts and craft with over 150 stalls.
  Camden Produce Markets
• 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month - 7 am to 12 pm
A great place to purchase and enjoy the locally grown fruit, vegetables, herbs, country style baking, jams, wool products, olive and lavender products.

Cobargo Cobargo Markets
• 8:30 am to 12:30 pm - last Saturday of each month
Held in the RSL Hall in the main street, the markets are a great way to experience the country charm of the historic Cobargo.

Evans Head Evans Head Community Markets
• 4th Saturday of the month
A great place to check out the local wares and produce. Held at the Evans Head Recreation Reserve.

Forster Forster Town Markets
• 2nd Sunday of the month — 8 am to 2 pm
• Enjoy the ambience of the monthly markets.

Gunning Gunning Markets
• Last Sunday of month
Monthly markets.

Orange Orange Farmers Market
• 2nd Saturday of the month - 8:30 am to 12:00 pm
• The Orange Farmers' Market is a predominantly fresh food market that operates monthly at the Orange Showground, Agricultural Pavilion or when unavailable at the Northcourt - Orange Regional Gallery. These locations will provide a suitable environment for farmers and food producers to sell high quality farm-origin and associated value-added food products directly to customers.

St Ives Heritage Craft Fair
• Held on first Sunday of every month, 9 am -  3 pm
The Heritage Craft Fair is an immensely successful pure craft fair with 250 stallholders, all personally producing unsurpassed Australian quality crafts from the classic to contemporary. No mass produced, second hand or imported items in this haven to the craft skills of yesteryear.

Uki Uki Markets
• Held 3rd Sunday of each month
In 1910, Norco built a butter processing plant in the town, but this failed during the 1930’s. Today, the site is now the Uki Markets offering local produce and wares.

Wellington Wellington Markets
• 4th Sunday of each month
Held in the Plaza where you can find old wares, arts and crafts, bric-a-brac and local produce.

Wollongong Wollongong Creative Trades & Coledale Markets
Wollongong Produce and Creative Markets
• Every Friday
Local growers and producers gather every Friday bringing their fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, organic wood fired bread, cakes, dips, nuts, olive oils and cheeses. The market is also a forum for local artists to showcase their talents.

  • event date or approximate date ie 3 day event late October
