Gloucester is a quiet rural town framed by the Bucketts Mountains backdrop on
the western side and
is known as the gateway to the Barrington Tops region. Located in the
north-eastern section of the Hunter Region, on the Gloucester
River, 96 metres above sea-level, Gloucester can be accessed from
Newcastle via the Bucketts Way,
a country road linking Gloucester to
Taree and Raymond Terrace.
Gloucester is the main centre for both commercial industries and retail shopping
in the district. The district also encompasses the villages of Barrington,
Bundook, Copeland,
Craven, and Stratford.
With a number
of local attractions and scenic drives, there is plenty to see and do.
