Gloucester - Cities, Towns and Localities
Gloucester is a quiet rural town framed by the Bucketts Mountains backdrop on the western side and is known as the gateway to the Barrington Tops region. Located in the north-eastern section of the Hunter Region, on the Gloucester River, 96 metres above sea-level, Gloucester can be accessed from Newcastle via the Bucketts Way, a country road linking Gloucester to Taree and Raymond Terrace.

Gloucester is the main centre for both commercial industries and retail shopping in the district. The district also encompasses the villages of Barrington, Bundook, Copeland, Craven, and Stratford.

With a number of local attractions and scenic drives, there is plenty to see and do. Check out some of the listed travel guide attractions and visit the local tourist centre for additional information. For Gloucester accommodation click here:

The museum includes an exhibition covering 100 years of dairying; there is also the Military Memorabilia and honour rolls; Family History Photographs; Magnificent Rock Collection, considered to be the most comprehensive collection of Australian minerals to be seen outside of the capital cities; Aboriginal Artefacts; Gold Mining at Copeland; a range of Australian Domestic Items dating from 1912; the Sturrock Collection of Builders and Cabinet Makers hand tools with examples of craftsmanship of a bygone era, featuring a magnificent example of the cabinet makers art of inlaying beautiful timbers; and a wonderful collection of Zebra rock, thought to be 600 million years old and unique to Australia, found in the Kununurra District of Western Australia.
