Located south-east of Taree in the
Manning Valley region,
Harrington is on the northern entrance to the Manning River. Originally a pilot station for vessels entering the river, it became
a port for cedar, maize and farm produce from up river. In 1894 a
breakwater was built providing some great fishing and safer boating.
You can swim in the lagoon with some safety provided by sandy
beaches inside the river mouth, where there are some BBQ and picnic
areas. Just to the north, is the township of
Crowdy Bay.
