Once a rural centre that serviced the surrounding farms, Mullumbimby was a
quiet country town that had attracted a mixture of people looking for
alternative and hippie lifestyles in the late 1960s. Today, the town displays
few signs of that period. Nestled at the foot of Mount Chincogan, 4 km off
the Pacific Highway and 19 km north-west of Byron Bay, tourism is an important
part of the local economy and makes a great base to visit the surrounding
region. Check out some of the listed travel guide attractions and visit the local tourist centre for additional information. For Mullumbimby accommodation
