Located 161 km south of Sydney via the Princes
Highway, Nowra lies on the south bank of the Shoalhaven River.
Nowra
is an aboriginal word meaning either 'camping place' or 'black
cockatoo' and is the main business and shopping centre for the
Shoalhaven District on the South Coast.

Visit the picturesque land
around Nowra. Cross the eight-span steel bridge that links Nowra
with its twin, Bomaderry. Bomaderry is the terminus of the south
coast railway from Sydney. Make Nowra your stop from which to visit
the outlying areas of the Shoalhaven and the Southern Highlands

Australias Museum of Flight

This world class museum is located just 8 km south west of Nowra, outside the
main gates of the Royal Australian Naval Air Station, HMAS Albatross. There is a
two storey exhibition centre, souvenir shop, snack bar, function centre, theatre
and airfield viewing platform. The museums verandah overlooks the historic
airfield at HMAS Albatross. There are fund raiser airshows organised by the
museum (in conjunction with the Royal Australian Navy) each April and October.

Berry
A town just 16 km north of Nowra with a number of
National Trust buildings, a museum and its many galleries and craft
shops.

Bundanon
The house is located at the end of a private road
that runs off Bundanon Rd
situated on 1000 acres of land adjacent
the Shoalhaven River, was the home and studio of Arthur Boyd for
many years. Open on the first Sunday of each month, entry is by
prior ticket purchase from the Shoalhaven Tourist Centre on the
Princes Highway in Bomaderry (1800-024 261).

Hampden Suspension Bridge
A sandstone bridge, built in the
style of a castle crosses the Kangaroo River at the western end of
town. Popular spot for swimming, fishing, canoeing and picnics.

HMAS Albatross
A naval air base station providing training
and support facilities for carrier air groups around the Australian
coast. You can visit the Australian Naval Aviation Museum featuring
vintage aircraft, aircraft engines, models, naval equipment,
memorabilia and photographs.

Located 150km south of Sydney,
approximately a 2 1/2 hour scenic drive. Worrigee Street intersects
the highway in the centre of Nowra. There is a daily train service
from Central Station, Sydney to Bomaderry. Built in 1885-1886, this
house was passed through the hands of four generations of women from
the same family. Part of the

Nowra Wildlife
Park

The
largest native animal park on the NSW South Coast. Set on 16 acres of native
bushland on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, there are over 100 species of
animals birds and reptiles.

Nowra Hill Lookout
Panoramic views of the Shoalhaven and
Jervis Bay areas and with just a short stroll along Commodore's Walk
is the Harry Hawkins Memorial Lookout.
