Oberon - Cities, Towns and Localities
Oberon is the gateway to the world-famous Jenolan Caves and to the spectacular beauty of Kanangra Boyd National Park. At 113 metres above sea level, Oberon enjoys four distinct seasons: lush springs, cool summers, balmy autumns and cold, crisp winters with snow.

Oberon sits on the western side of the Great Dividing Range, 179 km or less than three hours drive from Sydney.

The town of Oberon was proclaimed a village in 1863, with the name coming from Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Oberon offers the visitor great goods and services facilities, with some good places to shop, cafes and restaurant, bakeries and a range of accommodation options.

Whilst here you can visit the many attractions or make this your base to visit Lithgow, Bathurst and Orange, just to name a few.

Among the many attractions are the Jenolan and Abercrombie Caves. Another popular pastime in the pine forest plantations surrounding Oberon is mushroom picking, when in season. For the keen fishermen, Lake Oberon and Oberon Dam are regularly stocked with brown and rainbow trout. Most streams also contain trout. You will of course need to ensure you have a Freshwater Fishing License. The local visitor centre can provide more detailed information.

Check out some of the listed travel guide attractions and visit the local tourist centre for additional information. For Oberon accommodation click here:
