Singleton is the geographic heart of the Hunter
Valley and one of the oldest regional towns in Australia. Located
just north-west of Newcastle, it is only two hours from Sydney by
road, or catch the train (XPT) or a luxury coach ride from Sydney. The Singleton district is home of
the Wonnarua people, with the first European arriving in 1820. There
is much of historical interest in the region that extends beyond the
attractions of the wineries. There are three museums, historic
buildings and many historic villages located in the region,
including Belford, Broke, Bulga, Jerry's Plains, Warkworth, and
Whittingham. For the more adventurous, you can make Singleton your
base to visit Barrington, Wollemi, Yengo, Mount Royal, Goulburn
National Parks and Lake St Clair. For additional information visit the
tourist information centre. For Singleton accommodation
