Created during the 1980s, to celebrate Australia's Bicentenary in 1988, the 100
hectare natural heritage site provides an important wetland ecosystem, that
includes another 40 hectares of beautiful parkland.
Today, Bicentennial Park is part of Sydney Olympic Park and together offers a
unique recreation region offering nature-based tours, environmental education
and huge outdoor event experiences.
The park facilities include picnic areas, playgrounds, walkways, cycleways,
parking, as well as access to wetlands, salt marsh and bird hides. Other
attractions and features include the Sundial, Cyrus the Great statue, the Silent
Hearts Memorial Garden, Peace Monument, Lake Belvedere and other water features.
