The small village of Telegraph Point is located in the Hastings region on the
Pacific Highway, north of Port Macquarie.
With two nearby state forest and the Wilson River, there are a number of
recreational activities for the visitor. Originally known as Apple Tree Flat,
Telegraph Point was named when the telegraph line from Port Macquarie to Kempsey
crossed the Wilson River at a small peninsular on the south bank of the river,
immediately to the east of the existing traffic bridge in 1869.
