Covering a region that includes 35 km of unspoiled beaches, a valley of coastal wetlands and estuarine forest, waterways, mountainous regions, five heritage-listed national parks, abundant birdlife and marine life, as well as rich farm and pastoral lands, there is much to see and do in the Tweed Coast/Tweed Shire region. As a sub-tropical tourist destination, it offers much for the visitor including the famous Mount Warning that towers over the valley.

There are three main centres that include Murwillumbah, Tweed Heads and the adjoining Coolangatta. Tweed Heads and Coolangatta are ‘twin towns’, joined on the border of New South Wales and Queensland. South Tweed Heads stretches along the river estuary to the country town of Murwillumbah.
