Constructed in 1999, the Wellington-Osawano Japanese Gardens covers
an area of 6,000 square metres.
There are 1,500 individual plant
specimens, comprising 126 different species, in addition to a
mountain from which the stream emanates, of which the headwaters
face the sister city of Osawano.
The four flags at the front of the Japanese Gardens are:

Council flag and
- the Osawano Town flag.
