Yass Valley includes Binalong, Bookham, Bowning, Gundaroo, Hall, Murrumbateman, Sutton, Wee Jasper and Yass. Yass Valley boasts a rich agricultural tradition since 1824, producing some of Australia’s best superfine wool, that earned it the honourable title of ‘Fine Wool Centre of Australia’. Other produce in the region include canola, oat, beef cattle, grapes, olives, tomatoes and mushrooms.
 

The historic 19th century township of Yass was one of the first towns in New South Wales to be gazetted and takes its name from the Koori word ‘Yharr’ meaning ‘running water’.
