Yarrangobilly Caves Attractions

The Glory Hole at the entrance to the South Glory Cave.Yarrangobilly Caves
There are 3 caves open for regular guided and self-guided tours:
  • South Glory Cave
At less than 100,000 years old, this is the youngest cave on show at Yarrangobilly. First explored in 1834, the South Glory Cave contains massive decorations and vast rockpiles. There are interpretive information and automated feature lights in this self-guided tour cave.

  • Jersey Cave
In this cave, come and enjoy some of the features that journey back over 700,000 years in time. The cave is noted for the rare displays of black and grey flowstones. Jersey Cave is home to some of the most stunning and diverse cave decorations found at Yarrangobilly, such as the Cleopatra's Needle, a 4 metre stalagmite that almost touches the caves ceiling.

  • Jillabenan Cave
Despite being the smallest cave on show at Yarrangobilly, the Jillabenan is possibly the oldest, at around 2 million years. It features impressive displays of delicate cave formations including straw stalactites, shawls, cave corals and mysterious helictites.

Bush walks and the Thermal Pool
The place abounds with flora and fauna, with some great bird watching, photography or just enjoying the summer wildflowers. There are bush walks and a 20 m long thermal pool (at a constant 27ºC) where you can enjoy a soothing swim. The distance to the Thermal Pool from it's car park is 1.4 km return (please be advise that the walk includes steep grades. Pit toilets, change rooms, picnic and BBQ facilities are also available. There is access to the river. Care should be taking when using the pool as the algae growth can be quite slippy, especially in the shallow pool.
