Gagudju Lodge Cooinda spreads beneath a canopy of trees beside Yellow Water
Billabong in Kakadu National Park, one of the few World Heritage Areas listed
for both cultural and native heritage, and one of the world's greatest nature
reserves.
Kakadu is home to about one third of Australia's bird species. Many of these are
found at Yellow Water, including the comb-crested Jacana, Whistling Kite, Sea
Eagle, Brolga and Jabiru. An abundance of fish provides a source of food for the
large population of crocodiles.
Gagudju Lodge Cooinda is the base of the world - renowned Yellow Water Cruises,
where crocodiles and birds are seen on the flood plain amongst Paperbark,
Pandanus and Fresh Water Mangroves. Fishing charters are also available.
The Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre is located less than 1 km by road or 15
minutes walk from the Lodge and offers a walk through an Aboriginal cultural
display area, cinema shows and an Aboriginal arts and craft shop.
