Following is a list of suburbs in Alice Springs.

Known affectionately as ‘the Alice’ or just ‘Alice’, the town is named after a woman who has never been there, the wife of the former Postmaster General of South Australia, Sir Charles Todd, and after a spring that did not exists, when the telegraph station was sited near what was thought to be a permanent waterhole.

With a population that fluctuates between 24,000 to nearly 30,000, depending on local activities, events and seasons, Alice Springs is considered the heart of Central Australia, attracting visitors from around the world.

It was in 2008 the federal government has officially gazetted the name of 20 suburbs, all still bearing the same postcode of ‘0870’, in Alice Springs.
