“Veolia World Solar Challenge”
Across Australia: Darwin to Adelaide
The 2011 Veolia World Solar Challenge saw 39 teams from 20 countries qualify
for this years event. This unique event has teams racing in friendly
competition, departing from Darwin, travelling some 3,000 km south to Adelaide.
The race is about energy management, which was based on the original notion that
a 1,000W car would complete the journey in 50 hours. Indeed from the original
average speed set by the winning vehicle in 1987, to now, it is easy to see how
technology has improved. See their
Roll of Honour for more details.
