Annual Yellowtop
(Senecio gregorii)

The iconic Annual Yellowtop can often be seen in spring carpeting the arid countryside after good autumn or winter rains. Although they are annuals, during drought periods they tend not to appear.

Growing to a height of between 20-30 cm, with a yellow centre surrounded by 7-8 petals. The flower centre can be up to 1 cm in diameter. The petals are about 2 cm in length that are spaced around the centre in a star-like arrangement.

The flower set seed, changing into a head of white silky bristles.
