The City of Darwin is the Capital of the Northern Territory and
Australia’s most northern-most city. The city is bounded by Beagle Gulf (the
Timor Sea) in the north and west, the Shire of Litchfield in the east and Port
Darwin in the south. Darwin is closer to Jakarta than it is to Sydney, and closer to Singapore than it is to
Melbourne,
so it is no
surprise that it is influenced by Asia, which is reflected in its multi-cultural
and cosmopolitan outlook, being home to more than 60 nationalities and 70
different ethnic backgrounds.
Whether you visit during the dry
season (the peak tourism season) or the wet season (with monsoon rains and high intensity storms that provide
spectacular displays of lightning), the Top End offers plenty of activities with
plenty of memories to take home.
