France, or the French Republic, is one of those places that everyone knows or has heard of. Whether it is growing up learning about their history and trying to learn the language at school, it is a country that has had a huge influence throughout western history.

When we talk about France, it is usually about Metropolitan France, which extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the Bay of Biscay, Atlantic Ocean, English Channel and the North Sea.
