There are two parts to Malaysia, the Peninsula (mainland) Malaysia (also known as West Malaysia) and to East Malaysia (also known as Malaysian Borneo). These two regions are separated by the South China Sea. Malaysian Borneo is on the island of Borneo (the third largest island in the world, which is divided between three countries, the other two being Brunei and Indonesia).

Today, Malaysia is a bustling melting pot of ethnic groups and religions, creating a unique homogeneous society. Added to this are the many attractions, colourful festivals, and gastronomical delights.
