Ukraine is a republic located across central and eastern Europe and bordered by
Russia (north-east), Belarus (north), Poland (west), Slovakia (west), Hungary
(west), Moldova (south-west) and Romania (south-west). Formerly the Ukraninian
Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR) of the USSR, it is a country with mountain
ranges and a coastline on the Black Sea. It is often found listed under Eurasia
and the Baltics. The Ukraine has an administrative structure that includes the
Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, 24 regions (oblast) and the cities of Kyiv
and Sevastopol. As well as the capital city of Kiev, there are also a number of
other wonderful towns to visit including Chernihiv, Chernivtsi,
Kamyanets-Podilsky, Lviv, Odessa, Pochayiv and Yalta, to name a few. Following
