The 50th anniversary of the
Henley-On-Todd Regatta was a rip roaring, fun filled event...
This iconic Centralian event is one of the most unique boat races in the world - held as it is on the
Todd River, the
main river through
Central Australia. Indeed, it is the only boat race in the world that has
been cancelled due to water and flooding on the river. This is the Territory's longest running iconic
event and offers the chance of anyone attending to enter in any one of the the
boating inspired races.
Sand shovelling is not to be taken lightly, as those participants can attest
to. Men have to fill a 44 gallon drum with sand by shovel whilst women fill a 22
gallon drum with sand by shovel. There is even an under 16 for boys and girls to
fill a 22 gallon drum.
