Extremely isolated park in the far west of Queensland.
The closest town to Astrebla Downs is Bedourie there is no
road access into the park and it is not open to visitors.
The park protects important habitat for an isolated
population of the vulnerable Bilby (Macrotis lagotis),
nearby Diamantina National Park also supports a wild population of this
endangered native animal. If visitors were allowed into the
park it could disrupt their environment and or introduce
other animals possibly hastening the reduction in the
Bilbies already depleted numbers. Very little
information could be gathered from the internet regarding
the flora and fauna and geology of this park there are no
fact sheets available, however information from people who
have been into the park suggests it is one huge flat open
plain, very dry and
treeless with no distinctive landmarks to speak of.
