Two and 1/2 hours west of Rockhampton rises a sandstone
plateau 600 m above the surrounding country, turn off at
Dingo and drive south for a further 11 km. This is Blackdown Tableland National Park,
with
magnificent views, cliffs, deep gorges, and aboriginal art.
Camping permitted by permit only at Mimosa Creek. There are
a few walking tracks available in the park. This park would
have to be an undiscovered gem of the Capricorn region. Contact the local Parks and
Wildlife Service or visit the
QLD National parks, marine parks and forests website. In addition to our listed
online travel guide information, contact the local tourism visitor centre for your
destination for more attractions, tours, local maps and other information. |
