Roma Street Parkland - Cities, Towns and Localities |

Built on the former Roma Street Railway Station and
opened in April 2001, the Roma Street Parkland has now
become one of the must seen attractions in Brisbane. The
world's largest sub-tropical garden, the park covers 16
hectares and offers a number of features including Spectacle
Garden, with its themed gardens, Forest Walk, the Lake
Precinct, Celebration Lawn, Upper Parkland, public art,
activity centre, cafes and more. Information brochures,
including self-guided walks and guided walks are all
available from the Activity Centre.

Activity Centre
• The place to find a range of
brochures, information, self-guided walking tours, and other
attractions.
|
Barbeques and Cafes
• There are barbeques throughout the
Parkland, available for use. There are also licensed cafes
and venue, as well as snack food vending machines at the
Activity Centre. Visitors are welcome to bring their own
food and enjoy a picnic or barbeque, or just try some of the
takeaway items.

Forest
Walk
• The Forest Walk weaves a path, with boardwalk
over cascading waterways and around steep hills and rocky
outcrops. The Lookout via Fern Gully Bridge provides views
over the forest, the parkland and city skyline.

The
Lake Precinct
• An avenue of Weeping Myrtle (Waterhousia
floribunda) lines the curving pathway along the edge of
the Lake providing shade and seasonal effect, with white
flowers appear in spring, followed by blue-green berries and
leaves that turn brilliant scarlet. The Lake Precinct Walk
meanders around Pandanus Headland that feature Pandanus,
Banksia and other Australian species found on coastal
headlands, and on past Paper Bark Forest and wetlands.

Playgrounds
• The playgrounds are located behind
Spectacle Garden with swings, slides, climbing frames and
more.

Spectacle Garden
• There are several themed gardens,
including the Topiary Maze Garden, Lilly Pilly Garden and a
wall of Epiphytes. Take the Spectacle Garden Walk that tours
all areas.
