Located in one of Australia's fastest growing regions Caloundra a city of 75,000 people is a haven for holiday makers who want a truly relaxing Queensland holiday.

In the late 1800's several shipwrecks occurred in the area near present day Caloundra. In 1898 a lighthouse was built on Canberra Terrace, 4 other homes existed in the town an the time, one of these became the lighthouse keepers a Mr Walderman Edlundh. In 1910 the lighthouse wick burner was replaced with an incandescent vapour kerosene lamp which lasted until 1942 when it too was replaced with a more efficient electrical light.
 

In 1970 the historic lighthouse was moved to save it from demolition. It has since been moved back to its original location and transformed into a historical centre.

Today Caloundra is hugely popular with families and great place to bring up children. With all the water sports such as canoeing, water skiing, water bikes, sailboards, surfing on golden beaches, and then all the big city facilities available that you could think of there is always something to do in this part of Queensland.
