Cardwell - Cities, Towns and Localities
Cardwell Shire located between Cairns and Townsville, part of the Far North Queensland coastal region. With Tully as the administrative centre and popular destinations such as Dunk Island, South Mission Beach and Tully Heads, there is plenty to see and do.

Located adjacent to Australia's largest Island National Park that is Hinchinbrook you will find a massive array of activities to pursue in the area. What better way to do this than to make Cardwell your base.

You can swim at Five Mile Creek, take in the panoramic views of Tully and the surrounding areas by climbing Mount Tyson or book to do the 32 km trek of the Thorsborne Trail. Other attractions in the area include white water rafting, skydiving, sea kayaking, fishing, bushwalking or take a scenic flight.

Dating back to 1864 Cardwell is one of North Queensland oldest settlements, based right on the ocean overlooking Hinchinbrook Island and the sheltered channel that separates it from the mainland. The rainforest around here is thick and lush with easy access to many natural features such as Wallaman Falls Australia's highest Waterfall, Tully Gorge, Mission Beach and much more.
